Extreme Makeover

Home edition

Lain appears with design team member Constance Ramos. HGTV team members Ty Pennington, Ed Sanders, Michael Moloney, and Eduardo Xol work with local contractors to complete the Barrett’s home.

In 2005, HGTV Extreme Makeover Home Edition team ventured to Peyton, CO to assist an extraordinary family in need: the Barrett family.  Billy Jack and Anne Barrett had two children of their own and were providing a home for 4 foster children.  With the desire of welcoming even more foster children into their loving home, the Barretts would be required to provide a larger home equipped with enough room to house the growing family.   The Extreme Makeover team, Keller Homes, and 2,000+ local contractors donated their time, resources,  and expertise to transform a 1,400 sq. ft. old farm house into a 4,023 sq. ft. dream home. Lain Chappell, owner and founder of Solid Rock Construction, was honored to be able to be a part of that hard working team.  The team had one week to build the new 4,023 sq. ft. home providing 9 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, a large kitchen with dining room, and a family room.   In addition to the house, a 600 sq. ft. one-room schoolhouse was built, providing a place for Mrs. Barrett to home school the foster children.  Contractor talents exceeded the home building process as they were called upon to build most of the home and school room furniture as well; Lain was excited to be able to assist in the making of the log beds for the boys’ bedroom.   Due to the community coming together, the project was completed on time and presented to the very excited and deserving family- and Lain’s life was greatly impacted by the awesome experience.
